Horizon’s volunteers came from a variety of backgrounds and connected with families in Chicagoland to assist end-of-life patients, their families, and caregivers during and following their palliative treatment. Volunteers provided a helping hand with numerous simple tasks that became challenging or impossible for families during those difficult months. They would go grocery shopping, care for pets, clean homes, or simply provide a friendly shoulder to lean on.
  
  This section features articles and creative writing by volunteers, who share candid stories about their time spent with grieving families and patients facing death. It also contains newsletters produced and circulated by volunteers in order to stay in touch and support one another as they supported Chicago families.
