A Circle of Care: Horizon Hospice, 1978-2015: by Special Collections and University Archives, UIC Library

Collaboration with Rush University Medical Center

Opened in 2012, the Ada F. Addington Hospice CareCenter was the first dedicated inpatient hospice unit in Chicago, and remains in operation under JourneyCare. The unit in Rush University Medical Center is made up of 13 suites. These rooms were designed with more comfort and visitor space than an average hospital room, because stays were expected to be longer, and patients in hospice care do not require the some of the features of an average hospital room.

Photographs, correspondence, and plans in this section document Horizon Hospice’s partnership with Rush, from the planning stages to the completed CareCenter.
