Remembering Richard J. Daley

UIC Special Collections and University Archives

The Special Collections and University Archives Department at University of Illinois Chicago Library houses collections of rare books, manuscripts, maps, and photographs. The holdings at the Richard J. Daley Library are particularly strong in collections that pertain to the social, political, and cultural history of Chicago. The holdings at the Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago document Chicago’s rich history as a center for the education and practice of the medical arts.

UIC Daley Library is also the home of the Daley family collections, which includes the papers of Richard J. Daley, his sons Richard M. Daley and William M. Daley, and a number of related collections. These collections offer insight into the lives and political careers of the family. They collections include such archival materials as original documents, photographs, artifacts, ephemera, and interviews from two oral history projects, one about Mayor Richard J. Daley and the other about Mayor Richard M. Daley.
